M & M's Therapy

Not the candy, Melody and Michelle's. My BFF came over for the day. We usually plan on doing a project with not much follow through. Today however was productive and therapeutic.

We have had these paper mache' boxes for a while now. We considered covering them with fabric, decoupage or painting. We decided to draw our designs on with pigma pens and colored them in with My little ones pencils. It was both relaxing and fun. We have declared any imperfections as added charm.

Then we decided to make matching travel mugs. The cool thing about those is we can interchange the liners anytime.
Michelle brought those cute little hangers and we decided to color them too. They are to be used to display a future project.

We are going to use the boxes to carry around our stitchery projects. I have to say there is nothing like relaxing and crafting with My Pal. She brought some yummy brownies and some nice gifts for Me and My little one. Time flies and before we knew it, it was time for her to head home.

My First Quilt

Carrie and Camille mentioned on their blogs about showing your first quilt and your last finished quilt. Well, I am going to show you my sad little wall hanging. Its hand pieced, machined pieced, hand appliqued, machine quilted, hand quilted and mitered borders.

No! I do not drink heavily! I just did not fully understand how to get a tidy binding.

Oh, yes I did make another one at the same time. Silly, I know. Now I have two old wonky wall hangings.
BTW, I did get better at binding by the third or fourth one.

So this is my last big finish. I was a gift for my wonderful Sister. I was queen sized and matched her sofa pretty well. I gave it to her in person when I went to Cali last month.

Here it is again looking pretty good at my house too! She is so lucky I love Her!

I plan on quilting and binding this wall hanging. Wish me luck. I feel like I haven't accomplished much since my vacation.

Fireworks and the County Fair

We went to the County Fair on the Fourth. It was fair weather and a good time was had by all.
Yes, I was tortured by having to sit on the metal bleachers far too long. They had to see the tractor pulls. The following photos were taken by my little one.

We were in the petting zoo building far too long.

Admission to the fair seven bucks,
ride bracelet fifteen bucks,
three darts to pop balloons five bucks...

A minuscule stuffed turtle, priceless memories for and of my little one and us.
